Meet the District Team!
Beverley and Hornsea Scouts has a team of volunteer leaders, who, between them help support the leaders of the various groups and sections in the Beverley and Hornsea area, they are also the interface between Humberside County Scouts and the Group Scout Leaders.District Leadership Team
The District Leadership Team is the operational arm of Beverley & Hornsea District Scouts. The team works together to facilitate, support and deliver high-quality Scouting across Beverley, Hornsea and the surrounding communities.
From supporting our Groups and volunteers to coordinating District activities, events and development, the team helps ensure that local Scouting continues to grow and provides great opportunities and experiences for young people.
Jacob Birch
Lead Volunteer
Manages and supports the Scout District to ensure it runs effectively and that Scouting within the District develops in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scout Association so that that the District provides good quality Scouting for young people and proactively supports and manages adults in the District.
Richard Whomsley
Programme Team Leader
Leads and supports the District Programme Team to help sections across the District deliver a safe, enjoyable and high-quality programme. Brings volunteers and activity experts together, supports programme development and helps provide opportunities, activities and events that enhance the Scouting experience for young people.
Joe Dickinson
Support Team Leader
Leads and supports the District Support Team to provide the practical services and resources needed for Scouting to operate and grow across the District. Helps coordinate areas such as administration, communications, community engagement, fundraising and development, supporting the District and its Groups to deliver Scouting effectively.

Volunteer Development Team Leader
Leads and supports the District Volunteering Development Team to ensure volunteers across the District have a positive and enjoyable volunteering experience. Supports the recruitment and welcoming of new volunteers, learning and development, ongoing support and recognition, helping volunteers gain the skills and confidence they need in their roles.

14-24 Team Leader
Leads and supports the District 14–24 Team and the delivery of Scouting for Explorers, Young Leaders and Scout Network across the District. Supports Section Teams to plan and deliver high-quality programmes, develop young people and volunteers, and ensure our 14–24 provision is inclusive, well supported and provides great opportunities for young people.

Youth Lead
Our Youth Leads make sure Scouts is shaped by young people aged 4-25. They champion, encourage and lead work in their area, supporting volunteers to empower young people and embed their ideas and decisions into Scouts locally.
Youth Leads play a key role in the leadership and management of the District.

Group Lead Volunteers
Meet the rest of the team
Our Group Lead Volunteers manage the groups across the district helping to ensure our sections work well together and feel motivated. They ensure the group is visable, respected and supported in their local community.
District Trustee Board
The District Trustee Board provides the governance and oversight of Beverley & Hornsea District Scouts. The Board works together to ensure the District is well managed, financially sustainable and operates safely, legally and in line with the policies and values of The Scouts.
Trustees support the District’s strategic direction, oversee its finances, assets and resources, and help ensure that the District Leadership Team has the support it needs to deliver great Scouting for young people across our local communities.
District President
John Holtby is the President of Beverley & Hornsea District Scouts, acting as an ambassador and champion for Scouting across Beverley, Hornsea and the surrounding communities.
John has a long-standing connection with the East Riding and brings considerable experience of public and community service to the role. He served as High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire from 2011 to 2012 and is an East Riding of Yorkshire Councillor representing Mid Holderness. John also has strong roots within the local farming community and has spent much of his life living and working in the East Riding.
The role of our District President
The District President is an ambassadorial role, helping to champion Scouting and the opportunities it provides to young people across our local communities.
As President, John supports the District by raising the profile of Scouting, celebrating the achievements of our young people and volunteers, and helping us build and strengthen relationships with organisations, community leaders and partners across the East Riding.
John will also join us at events, activities and celebrations across the District, providing an opportunity to meet our young people and volunteers and see first-hand the positive impact Scouting has within our communities.
Working alongside our District Leadership Team and Trustee Board, our President helps ensure that the fantastic work taking place across Beverley & Hornsea Scouts is recognised and championed throughout the wider community.
