What We Do

At Scouts, we are dedicated to equipping young people with valuable skills for their future. We inspire our youth to pursue growth, knowledge, and achievement.

At Scouts, we are dedicated to equipping young people with valuable skills for their future. We inspire our youth to pursue growth, knowledge, and achievement.

Each week, we provide over 460,000 young people with the opportunity to engage in exciting adventures while building the essential skills they need to succeed both now and in the future. We empower our members to learn teamwork, leadership, and resilience. These are skills that have propelled Scouts into a wide range of professions, including teaching, social work, space exploration, and Olympic competition.

We believe in the power of unity and inclusivity. We celebrate diversity and actively reject intolerance in all forms. Our global community fosters strong connections and supports positive futures for all.

By 2026, we aspire to have even more inspiring volunteers delivering an impactful programme that prepares even more young people with the skills for life. We will continue to evolve into a more inclusive organisation, shaped by our youth and making an even greater impact in our communities.

We proudly adhere to our core values of integrity, respect, care, belief, and cooperation. Our values serve as the foundation of everything we do, and we are committed to upholding them at all times.

What Scouts do

Young people in the Scouts take part in an exciting programme of activities from kayaking to coding. They develop character skills like resilience, initiative and tenacity; employability skills such as leadership, teamwork and problem solving; and practical skills like cooking and first aid. And research proves it really works. A 2018 report says Scouts are 17% more likely to show leadership skills and work well in teams. They’re a third more likely to support their communities too.

Volunteer today

Whether you can spare an hour a month or a day a year, we have lots of opportunities both behind the scenes and directly supporting young people. With full support and award winning training, you can volunteer on a flexible basis. Not only is it incredibly rewarding and great fun, you’ll learn some brilliant skills transferable to the workplace too. We welcome volunteers from every community and background. You don’t need to have been a Scout. You just need to believe in a more positive future and the difference we can make together.
