๐ Beverley and Hornsea Explorers are heading to Poacher 2026!
We’re thrilled to announce that Beverley and Hornsea District Scouts will be taking a contingent of Explorer Scouts to Poacher 2026 – Lincolnshire’s International Jamboree! This epic event only comes around every four years, and it promises non-stop adventure, new friendships, and unforgettable memories.
๐๏ธ What is Poacher?
Poacher 2026 is one of the UK’s largest international Scouting and Guiding camps, hosted at the Lincolnshire Showground, Lincoln (LN2 2NA). Over 5,000 young people from across the world will come together for a full week of exciting activities, cultural exchanges, and community spirit. Whether it’s climbing, crafting, performing, or paddling – there’s something for everyone.
๐งณ What’s included?
We’ll be camping together as a District in a designated subcamp, where we’ll cook, eat, and chill as a team. The Poacher team provides a jam-packed programme of activities, two incredible opening and closing ceremonies, and all the festival-style fun you’d expect – and we’ll take care of food, kit lists, and sleeping arrangements.
๐ท Cost & Payment Plan
The maximum cost for each Explorer is £450, but we’re aiming to reduce this through fundraising and careful budgeting.
Payment Schedule:
Deposit – £50 by 31st May 2025 (via OSM)
Payment 1 – £100 by 30th September 2025
Payment 2 – £100 by 31st December 2025
Payment 3 – £100 by 31st March 2026
Payment 4 – £100 by 30th June 2026
(Please note: Payments 1–4 will be made by bank transfer. We’ll keep you updated if fundraising efforts bring costs down!)
๐ Explorers will be expected to get involved in fundraising – not only to help lower the cost, but to build teamwork and anticipation for the trip!
๐ฅ Who can go?
If your young person is currently a Scout but will be 14 or older by the start of Poacher 2026, they’re eligible to join the fun! Not yet an Explorer? No worries — speak with your Scout Section Leader or Group Lead Volunteer to find out how to make the move up.
๐งพ How we’re organising things
We’ll be using Online Scout Manager (OSM) to manage all things Poacher, so it’s essential your Explorer is shared with us in OSM by their current section. That way, we can keep you informed, collect payments, and share exciting updates.
