New Assistant District Commissioner for Support - Joe Dickinson

Exciting news in the development of the Beverley and Hornsea District Team. Joe Dickinson has been appointed to the role of District Assistant Commissioner - Support.

One of Joe's first tasks is supporting volunteers, training advisors and managers in ensuring as many volunteers as possible are able to achieve their Wood Badges before transition. As you may be aware, Wood Badges become optional after the transformation changes which are ahead of us in The Scouts.

Another exciting task for Joe will be supporting the teams that are working towards opening the District's first Squirrel Dreys! Both Hornsea and Brandesburton are well underway with opening our latest provision to welcome more young people into the world of Scouting. With volunteers in place to welcome the newest members of the Beverley and Hornsea Scouts family, they're ready to launch in January 2024!

Joe will lead the Support Team who are there to support our volunteers and young people to get the best Scouting experience they can. The teams responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with the local community
  • Volunteer Recruitment
  • Opening new provision
  • Support Effective Process
  • Look after property and equipment
  • Continuous promotion of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Media and Communications

Please welcome Joe to the District Team, Joe is keen to get out and about to see volunteers and groups to find out what support is needed and wanted!
