New Lead Volunteer – Say hello to Jacob

We are pleased to announce that Jacob Birch has been appointed to the role of Lead Volunteer (District Commissioner) for Beverley and Hornsea District.

Jacob has been fulfilling the role of Acting District Commissioner since March of this year, and has now taken on the full appointment.

Jacob started his Scouting journey as a Cub Section Leader in Cherry Burton, before moving to be District Chair of the Trustee Board. In the role of District Chair Jacob was also able to help and support the District Team and the Group volunteers with the governance of their Trustee Boards.

Moving forward Jacob hopes to drive energy and vision into the district, with new teams being formed and new team leaders and members joining to make a real difference in Beverley and Hornsea.

Jacob said “I hope to be able to build a team to support Scouting in Beverley and Hornsea, to enable our fantastic volunteers to deliver a quality programme and ensure our young people have fun and earn top awards, all whilst gaining skills for life.”

“In the coming months I hope to be able to build a District Vision in conjunction with the District Leadership Team and the wider volunteers, to set clear goals and targets to build on the amazing things already happening all across the District.”

Jacob recognises that The Scouts would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of it’s volunteers, so invites anyone to nominate volunteers for various Adult Awards – to ensure the right people are recognised for the massive impact they have on young people lives. Details of how to nominate for awards can be found below.

If you would like to let Jacob know what you are doing, or would like to invite him to an event you can contact him by emailing DC@BandHScouts.org.uk

On behalf of all of the Beverley and Hornsea District Volunteers we would like to wish Jacob all the best in his new role.
