Extend a Warm Welcome: Become a Welcome Conversation Volunteer

At Scouts, we believe that a heartfelt welcome sets the foundation for a volunteer's rewarding journey. As a current volunteer, you understand the transformative power of our community. Now, imagine amplifying that impact by guiding newcomers through their first steps. By becoming a Welcome Conversation Volunteer, you can play a pivotal role in ensuring new members feel valued, informed, and excited to embark on their Scouting adventure.

Why Your Role Matters

The Welcome Conversation is more than a formality; it's an opportunity to:

  • Share Your Passion: Inspire new volunteers with your experiences and enthusiasm.
  • Foster Connections: Help newcomers integrate seamlessly into their teams.
  • Ensure Clarity: Discuss roles, responsibilities, and the essence of Scouting values.

Steps to Become a Welcome Conversation Volunteer

  • Let The Team Know: email your interest to welcome@bandhscouts.org.uk
  • Complete the E-Learning Module: Equip yourself with the skills to lead effective and welcoming conversations.
  • Gain Accreditation: Upon finishing the training, you'll receive your Welcome Conversation Volunteer accreditation.
  • Join the Welcome Team Network: Connect with fellow volunteers through our dedicated WhatsApp group, where you'll coordinate and participate in upcoming welcome conversations.

Who Can Become a Welcome Conversation Volunteer?

We're looking for volunteers who:

  • Hold a Full, Current Appointment: Engaged in roles that require a Welcome Conversation or Appointments Panel as part of the onboarding process.
  • Are Independent: Not part of the same group or team as the new volunteer, ensuring an unbiased and fresh perspective.
  • Have Relevant Experience: Currently active or have been within the past five years in a similar role at the group or explorer unit level, distinct from the new volunteer's prospective team.

Ready to Make a Difference?

Embarking on this journey not only enriches the experiences of new volunteers but also offers you personal growth and the satisfaction of nurturing the next generation of Scout volunteers.

Together, let's continue to build a community where every volunteer feels at home from day one.
