Over 700 Young People Celebrate Adventure, Friendship and Fun at Spectacular Scout St George’s Activity Day

Sunshine, skills, and serious fun – Scouts from across the region came together for an unforgettable day of adventure and celebration at Beverley Racecourse.
Beverley, East Yorkshire – The sound of laughter, the clatter of pioneering poles, and the whoosh of arrows in flight filled the air at Beverley Racecourse on Sunday 27th April, as more than 700 young people from across the region gathered for the annual St George’s Activity Day.
Organised by Beverley and Hornsea Scouts in partnership with Blacktoft Beacon Scouts, this action-packed day brought together young people from across the Scouting community – from energetic Squirrels to adventurous Explorers – to celebrate friendship, fun, and the spirit of Scouting.
With a massive range of activities on offer – including archery, pioneering, crafts, pancake flipping, and much more – there was something for everyone, whether you’re an outdoor thrill-seeker or a creative crafter.
“It’s a real celebration of everything Scouting is about,” said Jacob Birch, Lead Volunteer for Beverley and Hornsea Scouts.
“Today, our young people have learned new skills, made new friends, and had an absolute blast – and it’s all thanks to the amazing dedication of our volunteers.”
“Every year, this event just gets bigger and better,” added Josh Morablanco, Lead Volunteer for Blacktoft Beacon Scouts.
“The young people help shape it, the volunteers bring it to life, and the memories made here will last a lifetime.”
The event was made possible by a team of tireless Scout volunteers and generous support from local Scout Groups and activity providers – a shining example of teamwork and community spirit.
From first-time adventurers to seasoned Scouts, the day offered a taste of the incredible opportunities Scouting brings. Young people across the region are working toward top awards, taking part in local and international camps, and learning real-life skills that will stay with them forever.
And it’s not just for the kids – adults can get involved too, by volunteering, supporting, or even rediscovering their own inner Scout.
