Scouts and Explorers from across the area came together this weekend for an action-packed day at the annual Raft Race held at East Park. The event brought teams of young people together to test their teamwork, raft-building skills, and determination in a fun and spirited competition on the water.

Despite a few scattered showers, the weather held out just enough to keep everyone cool and comfortable – a welcome bit of luck for such an energetic outdoor event. Dozens of young people took part, supported by a dedicated team of leaders and volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly.

The event was made possible through fantastic teamwork behind the scenes, including early-morning setup crews, safety coordinators, catering teams, and those providing equipment and on-the-day support. Their efforts ensured that the young participants had a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience.

Thanks to a strong and supportive partnership with East Park, the event continues to thrive year after year. With nearly all available time slots filled and a great turnout of teams, the enthusiasm and excitement on the day were a true reflection of what Scouting is all about.

Plans are already in motion to build on this success and make next year’s Raft Race even bigger and better. Until then, paddles and ropes will be drying, and memories of another fantastic day on the water will be cherished by all who took part.
